2025 Western Alzheimers

Westport Marathon were delighted to work with Western Alzheimers as our charity partner last year.  This amazing charity provides a complete range of care & support services to families affected by Alzheimers/Dementia in the West of Ireland.  Western Alzheimers was set up in 1996 as a direct response to the lack of support and services available to people living with dementia in the west of Ireland. From its humble beginnings in a 4 bedroom house in Claremorris it now provides a purpose- built “home from home” overnight respite unit in Ballindine as well as delivering other services to some 5000 families across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. Their vision, their mission and work are all underpinned by their commitment to provide these essential support and services that meet the specific needs of people living with dementia across the region each year.
